What is Vampire Hair Therapy?
Vampire Hair Therapy®
The science with the Vampire Hair Therapy® is the same as with the Vampire Facelift. The use of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) activates the stem cells and tells them to do what they are programmed to do. For the Hair Growth, we add the PRP topically and use a DermaPen® with micro-needling to inject the topical PRP into the hair follicles. Additionally, we can use a syringe of PRP and inject directly into the scalp every couple of inches over the entire problem area. Micro-needling has become increasingly popular for the treatment of fine lines; wrinkles, skin texture improvement, scars, and overall skin rejuvenation. PRP is the end-product of autonomous concentrated plasma which is then either micro-needled or injected into the skin or in this case, scalp. In order to be considered true PRP, the concentration of platelets must be at least 4-6 times what is naturally found in whole blood. The heavily platelet concentrated plasma works by releasing growth factors that stimulate collagen, growth of blood vessels, and regenerates tissue.
By using micro-needling to create thousands of microscopic channels into the skin, PRP is able to penetrate deeper into the dermis. PRP intensifies the skin’s natural wound cascade created the high concentration of growth factors. This leads to intense collagen stimulation and skin rejuvenation. Micro-needling with PRP is best for patients who are looking for overall skin rejuvenation, treatment of acne scars, and improvement of skin texture. Patients will experience mild redness immediately following the procedure, which may last several days (approximately 1-3 days). Typically patients require 3-6 treatments at 4 weeks apart to see optimal effects. Topical anesthetic to the scalp will be applied if necessary.
After care Instructions:
- Patients should be instructed to stay away from use of aspirin and NSAIDS 8 days after procedure due to effect on the inflammatory response.
- May use PPP at home every 2 hours for 8 hours after procedure.
- May apply ice as needed for bruising, swelling, or discomfort.
- Recommend the use of Arnica as needed for bruising.
