Sunny days with friends and family are definitely at the top of my list. But, with the sun responsible for 90% of the damage associated with aging, it’s important to think healthy sun exposure. In this month’s Insider Tips, I want you to  love the sun, as well as your skin:

Protect from the Sun (That Means All Over)

Applying sunscreen should be a no-brainer, right? The truth is there are spots we commonly neglect. The places in need of a little more TLC? The nose, sides of the face, ears, the tops of hands and feet, as well as the chest and neck (and, men, don’t forget the bald spot on your scalp). And, not surprisingly, these sun-exposed areas are more prone to certain skin cancers.

Sunshine can equal good health…in good measure. Beyond synthesizing Vitamin D for healthy bones, sun exposure can reduce blood pressure, curb appetite, as well as reduce the risk of obesity and type two diabetes. As a general rule, between 10 minutes to no more than a half an hour of sun exposure a day is needed to reap the vitalizing rewards of the summer sun.
