How to Wash Your Face with Facial Cleanser | Nicole Contos Insider Tips
These simple face cleanser tips and tricks can up your cleansing game! Here’s how to wash your face correctly:
#1 — Wet your face before applying face cleanser
That way the facial cleanser will glide over the skin seamlessly, making it effective across the entire face.
#2 — Be sure to cleanse face with clean hands
Remember that the goal is to take dirt, oils and debris off the skin — not to add on more from your hands.
#3 — Keep the temperature of the water tepid
Anything hotter than lukewarm water will strip the skin of its natural, fortifying oils.
#4 — Consider applying face cleanser with a gauze pad
Your cleanser is already designed to exfoliate. Increase that exfoliation factor by combining it with the pad’s rough surface. (That’s the kind of synergy Nicole’s known for!)
#5 — No gauze? No problem
Instead, apply cleanser to your pointer finger and middle finger, so that you can work product into hard-to-reach areas, including along the hairline and in the crevices around the nose.
#6 — Avoid that “squeaky-clean” feeling
If your skin feels tight, you’ve overdone it (or used the wrong product: refer to #8). This puts you at risk for drying out or irritating the skin. Stick with one pump of product, which translates to a dime size portion, each time you cleanse. And try not to cleanse more than twice a day.
#7 — Cleanse kindly
Scrubbing the skin harshly does not make your cleanser more effective — yes, that includes the times when you’re experiencing a breakout.
#8 — Pick a face cleanser that’s right for your skin type.
Simply put, there’s no one-size-fits-all cleanser. Just as you would pick a specific moisturizer or serum, you should choose a facial cleanser based on the unique needs of your skin.
For dry skin, try NC Creamy Cleanser, which will remove all traces of makeup and impurities, while gently exfoliating dead skin cells.
For oily skin, pick NC Refining Cleanser. Formulated with salicylic acid, it’s designed to deep clean pores, dissolve oils and improve skin texture.
For sensitive skin, choose NC Soothing Cleanser. This gentle formulation reduces skin irritation and fortifies the skin’s natural barrier without stripping the skin of replenishing oils.
