Here at Smooth Synergy Cosmedical Spa in NYC, our artists turn back the hands of time with our dermals, injectables, facials, and much more. As a way to freeze the hands of time and provide rejuvenated, youthful skin, Injectables and Fillers are among the safest, most effective anti-aging treatments on the market. Today we’re debunking popular myths about dermals and injectables to finally set the record straight and put a stop to the fear-mongering.
1. Botox is a filler. False! Simply put, fillers fill and Botox relaxes. When injected into facial muscles, Botox can relax wrinkles that form when making certain negative facial expressions like furrowed brows, forehead lines and crow’s feet. On the contrary, dermal fillers actually “fill” offending wrinkles and folds, adding volume to areas that have lost it and often times even stimulating collagen, too.
2. Aren’t fillers very painful? No! Dermal fillers are normally combined with lidocaine – this helps take care of any pain involved with the needle injection. Typically patients associate the pain of dermal fillers with 2.5 on the 1 to 10 pain scale.
3. Won’t everyone know that I’ve had a dermal filler? This answer is two-fold. If you want to tell people you’ve had dermal fillers, that’s your choice. However, the fear that you will look so dramatically different after this non-invasive procedure that everyone will immediately know is likely just that: fear.
4. What if I don’t like the results? They’re permanent! This is not true, often in the case of fillers you can reverse them if you don’t like them. It’s a lesser known fact that if you dislike the look of dermal fillers, most can be reversed using a reversing agent called hyaluronidase to break up the hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers.
