8 Point Liquid Facelift for Skin Sagging and Volume Loss | Botox and Dermal Fillers Uses
A major tell-tale sign of aging is volume loss. Typically, we see it on the cheek, jawline and jowl area. As we age, collagen becomes depleted, Hyaluronic Acid production diminishes, bone density shrinks and fat stores decrease. As a result, the once coveted “inverted triangle of youth” is gone. It’s replaced with sagging jowls, loose skin, marionette creases and nasolabial folds. In the past, a surgical facelift was a top anti-aging solution. Today, we can restore a youthful appearance with a nonsurgical treatment – the 8 Point Liquid Facelift.
Using Cosmetic Injectables, including Botox and Dermal Fillers, we now have a Facelift Alternative to rejuvenate the skin — without the downtime, pain and side effects of plastic surgery. Truly, what’s not to love?! Here’s more about the Eight Point Lift, courtesy of Smooth Synergy MedSpa, NYC. Find out if it’s the best treatment option for you to lift, tighten, tone and smooth the skin:
What is the 8 Point Liquid Facelift?
An 8 Point Liquid Facelift (aka Eight Point Face Lift or 8 Point Lift) was developed by Brazilian Plastic Surgeon and Master Injector, Mauricio de Mao. He discovered that a combination of Botox and Fillers could be strategically placed along the face (particularly the lower face). As a result, he could non-surgically approximate a surgical Facelift with injectables alone. Let’s drill down further:
Where are the Eight Points Injected on the Face?
Injections are focused on eight points on the face. Funnily enough, the eight points are along six areas of the face. Specifically, Botox and Fillers are injected here:
- Cheekbones / Cheek area
- Around the nose and mouth
- Corners of mouth / around the lips
- Below the eyes / tear trough
- Jowls
- Jawline
The cheeks account for the extra two injections, because this area typically requires more injection coverage to achieve results. Specifically, the goal is to restore a sturdy structure to the midface. With a better scaffold for the cheeks, the skin hangs more smoothly on the face. Thus, saggy jowls and deep creases are reduced.
What Does an 8 Point Facelift Do?
An 8 Point Liquid Facelift will take advantage of a combination of injectable Fillers and Botox. Brands of Dermal Fillers include Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero and Radiesse. Brands of Neurotoxins include Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau.
Dermal Fillers for Liquid Facelifts
Typically, Dermal Fillers are responsible for much of the Liquid Facelift results. The active ingredient of the majority of Fillers is Hyaluronic Acid or HA (with the exception of Radiesse, Sculptra and Kybella). Specifically, HA replenishes lost volume and reverse skin laxity. HA fillers come in different formulations with various degrees of softness and structure. Because of the variety of formulas, the doctor has great flexibility to choose different fillers for multiple areas of the face.

Botox for Liquid Facelifts
Typically, Botox is used in a Liquid Facelift to complement Dermal Filler results. Specifically, a Neurotoxin is often used to lift and smooth hyper-mobile areas of the face, such as to restore downturned corners of the mouth.

Are There Side Effects? Pain? Downtime? How Long Does it Take?
A Liquid Facelift is the definition of a “lunchtime” treatment. That means it’s quick and that most patients report minimal downtime, pain or recovery. It’s typical to return to normal activity immediately following treatment. We do recommend avoiding intense physical exercise for 24-48 hours, in order to minimize swelling. Some patients experience mild and temporary swelling, bruising, numbness, tenderness or redness at the injection site. As with any injection, this is usually minor. If you do experience any of these side effects, they usually resolve within a few hours to a few days. Topical icing is recommended to alleviate these symptoms.
How Often to Get a Liquid Facelift?
Both Fillers and Botox results are temporary. As such, they require a maintenance schedule. Typically we recommend treatment at least twice a year.
What are the Advantages / Benefits of a Liquid Facelift? What Liquid Facelift Before and After Results Can I Expect?
We absolutely love doing Liquid Facelifts at Smooth Synergy! It goes without saying that we love the no downtime / surgery alternative aspect. Put simply, who wouldn’t?! But there are other reasons as well. First, Botox and Fillers are incredibly versatile, while also being fully customizable. Not only do they work across the entire face (versatile), but a small amount can be targeted to your own personal anatomy (customizable). Second, they allow us to view your beauty holistically. By working on every part of your face at once, we can create a harmonious and balanced appearance that provides natural and youthful lifting results.
How Much Filler is Used in a Liquid Facelift? How Many Syringes / Units? What’s the Cost / Price?
Although there’s no hard and fast rule about the amount of units / syringes needed (remember: it’s fully customizable), it’s typical to use at least four Filler syringes. Additionally, since Botox is often used sparingly, it’s often similar to Baby Botox units, which is typically at least 10 units. That said, the amount of product is individual and requires us to see you to determine the Liquid Facelift price. Specifically, the Liquid Facelift cost will depend on your individual anatomy, extent of aging and desired treatment outcomes.
Are There Other Areas that Can Be Treated for Liquid Facelift?
Absolutely! Again, Botox and Fillers are incredibly versatile and customizable. In fact, there’s also a “5 Point Facelift” option. And, beyond the 8 points, Botox and/or Fillers can be used aesthetically for:
- Temple Hollows
- Between the eyebrows for Vertical Frown Lines / Elevens Lines
- Between the eyebrows for Horizontal Bunny Lines
- Horizontal brow lines
- Vertical Neck Bands
Who’s a Good Candidate for an Eight Point Liquid Facelift? What is the Age Cut Off ?
We typically see clients getting Liquid Facelifts in their 30s, 40s and 50s, who present with mild to moderate skin laxity. That said, there is no ideal candidate for this procedure. As always, we suggest coming in for a complimentary consultation to speak with an Expert in Beauty about what’s best for you.
How to Find a Master Injector / Provider Near Me? Where to Get Fillers?
With so many specialized fillers available, it’s important to find a reputable doctor who:
- Knows which formulations will work for your particular skincare concern
- Will take your individual anatomy and extent of aging into consideration
- Has experience knowing precisely where to inject product to get the Botox / filler results you’re looking for
- Knows how much product to use to achieve natural results.
- Can advise the right maintenance schedule to extend these results.
Our Medical Director, George Liakeas, MD ticks all these boxes. He’s been using Cosmetic Injectables for close to 20 years.
